World Food Day and World Egg Day.

FAISALABAD October 14, 2022: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad marked the World Food Day and World Egg Day. In which connection, a walk and seminar were arranged and stalls were set up. The food day was marked by the Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Science while Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Faculty of Animal Husbandry set up the egg dishes stalls that remained the center for attraction for the visitors. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan inaugurated the celebrations while Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan, Dean Faculty of Food Sciences Dr Masood Sadiq Butt, Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry Dr Qamar Bilal, Dean Veterinary Sciences Dr Tariq Javaid , Dr Muhammad Jalal, Dr Muhammad Younas, Dr Faqir Muhammad, Dr Riaz Virk, Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir, Dr Fawad Ahmad, Dr Jaffar Jaskani, Dr Muhammad Yousuf, Dr Saif Ur Rehman, Dr Dr Misbah Ijaz, Dr Kashif Iqbal, Dr Muhamad Javed, and others attended the meeting. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan called for increasing the productivity by using the latest practices in order to ensure food for ever increasing population. He said that 40 percent of the world population cannot afford the healthy diet. He said that World Food Day 2022 aims to ensure healthy food for all with the theme “Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow -Climate Change Threats to Food Security”. He added that the climate changes had posed a serious threat for the world and it is the need of the hour to join hands to address the issue. Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that malnutrition was the area of grave concern. Although we are abundant in food, but 50 percent of our population was malnourished. He said that there is a need to create the awareness about balanced usage of food. Dr Qamar Bilal said poultry was the second largest industry of the country after textile. He stressed that by taking eggs and milk in daily food, the challenges posed by Food Security could be met. He said the world proclaimed World Egg Day in 1996 and it is being celebrated on every 2nd week of the October. Dr Tariq Javed said that eggs must be made an essential part of food, adding that eggs were high values food and also decreased risk of many diseases like cardiovascular and cancer. He said that an egg was an important source of nutrition which contained proteins, minerals and vitamins.
