The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has opened Kashmir Solidarity / Culture ( 10 days Tajdeed-e-Ehad) Programmes from Feb 5 to Feb 14 with pledges to continue support to the people of India-held Kashmir, who are fighting for their legitimate right of self-determination for seven decades.

Like other parts of the country, UAF also took out a rally from Clock Tower to express solidarity with the people of Indian Held Kashmir. The walk was led by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa. Chairing the inaugural session, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa said that renewable energy sources were getting a key focus across the globe because these were sustainable and clean environment resources of energy at an affordable cost. He said that all the countries were using the same material such as solid, liquid and gases. The developed nations are producing wonders with the usage of said materials. We are far-lagging behind to use the material in an effective way due to lack of commitments. He said that in the coming ten years, the world will shift vehicles to the renewable energy. He said that UAF had a lot of potential to convert the university vehicles on the renewable energy for which UAF experts should come up with solid technologies. Government College Women University Vice Chancellor Dr Sofia Anwar said that the sciences and technologies are critical inputs for the economic development, poverty alleviation and improvement in the quality of life in both developed and the developing countries, Dean Faculty of Sciences UAF Dr Muhammad Asghar Bajwa said over the past some years, sciences and engineering are seeking to develop improved energy technologies that was the dire demand of every nation. He said water was becoming scarce as the country is facing the worst per capita water availability. He said only from the wind energy, the country possesses the potential of generating 20,000 MW of energy. He said that the material science and engineering provided us a solution to develop a smart city using smart material with remote metering of energy consumption. Chemistry Chairman Dr Ijaz Ahmad Bhatti said that sustainability was only possible if a society attempted to find and implement environment compatible, socially acceptable and economically viable means to acquire energy resources. Smart materials are useful in creating sustainable environment which is eco-friendly and leads to less energy consumption that is boon to our society. He said the UAF Chemistry Department had produced 2300 MSc, 1350 MPhil and 70 PhD so far. Dr Haq Nawaz Bhatti said that usage of alternative energy methods was essential to overcome the energy crisis. Scientists from Turkey, Malaysia, Mauritius addressed the technical session.
