The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has installed GPS in its transportation system to make it more effective and to provide state-of-the-art facilities at par with international standards, said UAF Treasurer Tariq Saeed.

He visited the Motorpool of the varsity and planted a sapling here. He was flanked by Incharge Motorpool Muhammad Arshad Qasmi, Deputy Registrar Public Relations and Publications Syed Qamar-ud-Din Bukhari and Admin Officer Kaleem Ullah. He said that motorpool due to its fuel consumption and repair of vehicles demands massive tree plantation to minimize the risk of environmental pollution. So we have decided to plant maximum sapling in and around the motorpool to make it lush green area. He said that university was making its students buses transportation system more vigilant and latest technologies are being used in this regards. He urged the motorpool staff to work with dedication and listen their suggestions regarding betterment. Talking about plantation, he said Prime Minister Initiatives of Clean and Green Pakistan is a hallmark step to fight environmental issues. He urged the youth and University community to collectively plant trees for creating awareness benefit of green cover. He said that environmental degradation was posing a serious threat to life. He said with deforestation, increasing pollution, and smoke emitting from the chunk of factories and vehicles, the issue of climate changes was rising. He said the international standard of forests was 25 percent whereas in Pakistan, it is less than four percent. He said that trees reduced 50 per cent carbon dioxide emission. It is chopped down or burned, it aggravated the issue of climate changes. Muhammad Arshad Qasmi said that the university was having modern transportation system. Eighteen buses are plying within and outside of the campus for transportation of the students. He also stressed upon the people to play their effective role in the plantation drive.
