Three-day buffalo milk and beauty competition began on Friday at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad in which more than 50 buffaloes across the provinces took part.

The event jointly arranged by UAF, Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab, and Buffaloes Breeding Association was inaugurated by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa. Buffaloes Breeding Association President Saeed Hasssan, UAF Deans Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Dr Muhammad Sajjad Khan, Director Farms Dr Shahid Afzaal Gill, Progressive Farmer Basharat Jaspal, Dr Khalid Shouq, Ch Atta Gujjar, Engineer Sami Ullah along with others participated. The contest will continue three-day. The Vice Chancellor said that main objective of the competition is to encourage promoting breeding and high milking buffaloes in the country. He said that average per animal milk production in the country was very low compared to developed world. He said that it is the annual feature of the country to hold the contests that instill the motivation in the farming community to increase the productivity. He said that we have to adopt the modern trends to ensure food security and to meet the demands of growing popuatlion . Buffaloes Breeding Association President Saeed Hasssan said such contest will help out the farming community to adopt the way to increase the milk productivity Farmers and owners of buffaloes participated enthusiastically at the event.
