The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has bagged 21 positions; one team trophy and won the crown of Champion Team among the 51 universities at literary and creativity contests titled Jehd 19 held at the Government College University Faisalabad.

The UAF students participated under the banner of Senior Tutor UAF. The Olympiad aims at disclosing the intellect, oratory, creativity, thrill and sport spirit of every youngster out there by providing them with a platform to manifest their hidden talent via JEH’D 19; a multi-category national level event. The event is an assemblage of numerous competitions which give the youth a baseline to prove their worth in their respective mode of interest and avail the opportunity of diverse social, endemic and healthy interaction. The UAF team along with Senior Tutor Athar Javed called on UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa. The Vice Chancellor while appreciating the team said that they had worked as ambassadors of the varsity to bring good name which is pride for us. He said that there is need to explore God-given abilities of the youth so that they can prove their own mettle. University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa on Friday cautioned that youth is least interested in sports activities and playgrounds wore deserted look which is a matter of concerns. He addressed the concluding session of sport inter-hostel gala (male) arranged by Hall Warden Office and Directorate of Sports UAF. Chief Hall Warden Dr Muhammad Amjad, Chairman Sport Board Dr Muhammad Ashafaq, Director Students Affairs Dr Shahbaz Talib Sahi, Dr Ghulam Murtaza, Dr Ahmad Nawaz and other notables also spoke on the occasion. The Vice Chancellor said some decades ago especially in the evening, the playgrounds across the country were packed with the youngsters to play sports. But unfortunately, we find hardly players in the grounds. He called for promoting the sports activities. He said that due to changing life style, the healthy activities are on the decline in the society. He said that the deserted playgrounds were one of reasons for increasing ailments in the society. He viewed that sports were equally important not only for keeping oneself physical fit but also for a sound mind. He said that now the lifestyle had changed and people remain busy in internet, electric gadgets, TV screen and mobile phones etc. He said that if a person is not physical fit, how can be good in studies as well. He said that UAF was making all out efforts to promote sport actives in the students. He added that the stat-of-the-art sports facilities were being provided to the students. Dr Muhammad Amjad said that there is a need to develop the sportsman spirit among the youth to combat different challenges in the life. He said that there is need to sensitize the society about the importance of exercise and sports for a healthy nation. Dr Muhammad Ashafaq said that in last decades, youth were used to go spent their time in the playground in evening but now they remain busy on internet, cell phones, TV screen and technological advancement etc. Dr Ahmad Nawaz said that the university was taking all measures to promote the sport activities.
