Dr. Ashraf who took the reins of the varsity few days ago, while revealing his vision, pledged to introduce pleasant reforms in the R&D activities with a clear focus on applied research, fetching exotic research grants from national and international agencies, and putting the varsity on the path of expanding its income generation resources and grabbing top positions in the credible ranking systems of the world. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf cautioned that he will never compromise on quality of teaching “teaching was a paramount mandate of the varsity and a teacher while research was to be considered a secondary activity” he said adding that he will not tolerate those who either not bother to take classes or assigning his/her teaching responsibilities to the junior teachers and teaching assistants. He urged the deans of the faculty to remain vigilant and keep an eye on the happening round “deanship is a multifarious responsibility that deserves to be undertaken accordingly” he stressed. He asked the principal officer estate management and in-charge gardening branch to ensure cleanliness and make the grassy grounds pleasant and attractive. He urged the engineering & construction department to conduct a survey of housing units and report those are in shabby and dilapidated condition for urgent repair. He said that after issuance of time scale notification by the provincial government, he directed the registrar to make lists of those waiting promotions even after serving in the same pay scales for more than last 10 years so that they may be promoted in the next pay scales accordingly. Expressing his concerns on improper solid waste management, he constituted a committee comprising Dr. Allah Bakhash, Dr. Laeeq Akbar Lodhi and Dr. Asghar Bajwa to work on and come up with solid and doable suggestions to how waste can be converted into compost or organic manure adding that other countries of the world were recycling their waste and generating energy and other byproducts. He vowed that merit and transparency would be hallmark of his management what would, he hoped, create harmony and healthy competition in the community.
