Punjab Governor’s spouse Perveen Sarwar has said that women empowerment, quality education, and research work are imperative to compete with the rest of world.

She visited the Exhibition Center, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and also led a smog awareness walk. She said that country was blessed with talented and hardworking people. She said that women comprised more than 50 percent of population. She said that no nation can progress without the participation of women in socio-cultural activities. She said that a large number of the population is associated with agricultural sector and living in rural areas. She said that climate changes were posing serious threat to the mankind. She said that government had taken environmental friendly policies to address the issue. She also said that the government was making serious efforts to redress the grievances of a common man. She also urged the women to motivate and aware their family members about the damages of smog and preventative measures.She was of the view that UAF was enriched in its quality education, research work and technologies. She said that the visit to Expo center UAF, where all technologies of the varsity were put on display, was really impressive. She said if these were in the developed nation, it would have been commercialized. She said that the same mechanism needed to be adopted for commercialization with strengthened ties in academia and industry. UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf said that women participation was vital to make the development and uplift. He said that that in the developed world, women are taking part in all sphere of life. He said that the university was committed to come up with out-of-the-box solutions to the problem of farmers, industry and common man. He said that university was making headway to find its space among the top 500 universities of the globe in the world acclaimed rankings. He said that issue of the climate change was a real problem for which paced up efforts were required. He said that the government was making tangible steps to address the problems of the general public and to move the country towards development and prosperity. Director Environment Sciences UAF Dr Muhammad Yaseen said that at the time of smog, it is necessary to use surgical or other face masks, drink extra water, blow nose regularly to clean out contaminants, wash hands, face and any exposed body part every time you come indoors after having gone outside. He said that they were distributing bags among the campus community as environment friendly.
