The per person annual consumption of eggs is only 100 in the country whereas human body requirement stands at 300 eggs a year. The situation was causing various diseases due to deficiency of protein and other essential food ingredients.

his was stated by Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf while addressing layer conference arranged by Faculty of Animal Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and World Poultry Sciences Association. Dr Muhammad Ashraf the academia-industry linkages were essential to get advancement in the poultry industry. He said that after the textile, the poultry industry had emerged second largest industry in the country. He said that hundreds of people were associated to the industry so that with the strengthened academia –industry ties, it will help boost up further sector. He said that the industrials should invest in research and development among the universities for a better Pakistan based on knowledge based economy. He said that eggs must be made the essential part of our intake. He said that egg is high values food and it also decreases the risk of many diseases like cardiovascular and cancer. He said that usage of egg whiteness was being recommended for the hepatics c patients. Faculty of Animal Sciences Dean Dr Muhammad Sajjad Khan said egg is an important source of nutrition. It contains proteins, minerals and vitamins. He said that it has vitamin B which protects skin, hair and liver. He said that egg contains omega three acids which reduce triglyceride levels. He said that it is also helpful in the weight reduction. Dr Aslam Mirza said that university had kicked off BS poultry sciences. He said that amid the situation of increasing ailment in the country, there is need to change food habits keeping its nutrition value, life style and body requirement in view. World Poultry Association Senior Vice President Hanif Nazir said that like other industries, academia-industry linkages were being further strengthened in poulty. Dr Khalid Shouq said that He said we have to adopt the simplicity in our food that would lead towards a health society.
