As many as 20 million people in the country are suffering from Hepatitis for which awareness about water and sanitation, one health and precautionary measures are needed to overcome the issue .

As many as 20 million people in the country are suffering from Hepatitis for which awareness about water and sanitation, one health and precautionary measures are needed to overcome the issue . It was echoed at the concluding session of three-day workshop on recent trends in molecular diagnosis of viral diseases arranged by Molecular Care, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. Addressing on the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan recommended ensure the clean environment, potable drinking water and food to fight the different diseases. He said that prevention is the better than cure so we have to adopt the measures to lead a healthy life. He said changing lifestyle, junk food, unphysical activities, over-eating and obesity were the root cause of the many diseases. He stressed upon the natural health which is the best maintained by life style change including physical exercise and mental relaxation; nutritional measures/dietary habits and functional and organic foods. He said that the University was working on One Heath to address the issue of water contamination , malnutrition, and healthy lifestyle under one umbrella. He showed his concern that clean water had become a real issue , causing the water borne diseases. He said that the ground water was deteriorating. Faisalabad is worst affected in term of clean water availability . Renowned medical doctor Zahid Yasin Hashmi said that every tenth person in the country was affected by the Hepatitis. He said that the obesity was the root cause of many diseases for which we have to make the measures like physical activities, and healthy lifestyle. He said that the most of the people are affected by the diseases due to ignorance. He said that in the developed nations had overcome hepatitis but in Pakistan, it is still an issue. He said the ratio of the hepatitis patients in the villages is the highest. He also suggested to make the check up of the fat in the liver as it causes many diseases. Dr Khalil ur Rehman sressed upon the need of changing lifestyle, ensure the nutritive food and potable water for the healthy life. Dr Amer Jamil said that sanitation, water and other issues were causing the health hazard. He said Molecular Care established with the objective to extend the expertise and facilities of the university faculty in Molecular Biochemistry Lab. of the Department of Biochemistry for researchers, and community.
