There is a need to refurbish the God-given abilities of the youth in order to make the development and prosperity, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar A. Khan. He addressed the students of Faculty of Agriculture, UAF at Iqbal Auditorium. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Amjad, Director Students Affair Shahbaz Talib Sahi, Dr Fawad Ahmad, Senior Tutor Dr Athar Javed and other notables also attended. He said that youth needed to prepare themselves to come with the viable solutions based on their knowledge as youth were the future leaders. The youth must be well informed about the problems of common man and their solution to pave the way of the development. He was of the view that ever-growing population, diminishing resources, climate changes, low per acre production and lack of awareness about latest tools are aggravating the problems of agriculture sector. He said as many as 50 percent of the enrolment consists of women and the university was actively working on gender mainstreaming. He described the youth as power engine of the country which can lead the society towards new horizons of success if today we channelize them properly. He said that University was making all-out efforts for addressing the issues of the farming community, stakeholders, civil society and the campus community. He said that the University had introduced 48- demand driven new degree programmers keeping in view the need of the modern era. He said that there is need to go to extra miles than the knowledge in books. He appreciated the steps being taken on the part of Agrarian Society, senior tutor office, Student Affairs Department, and Hall Warden Office for polishing the skills of the students. He said that government was taking marvelous initiatives for the development and to raise the standards of life of a common man. Dr Muhammad Amjad said that the country was blessed with the tremendous talents. There is a need to tap the potential. He urged the youth to remain focus on education and the skills development activities to produce good results. Dr Talib Sahi said that university was committed to producing the trained for which all possible measures are being taken.
