Like other parts of country, the national green day on Thursday was also marked at University of Agriculture Faisalabad day under Prime Minister Green Pakistan Program with commitments to increase plants area and to end deforestation.

Like other parts of country, the national green day on Thursday was also marked at University of Agriculture Faisalabad day under Prime Minister Green Pakistan Program with commitments to increase plants area and to end deforestation. In this regards, the University took out an awareness walk following a seminar that was led by Prof. Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor, UAF. In which, ten of hundreds of students and faculty members participated. The rally started from admin block was concluded at Center for Agriculture, Biotechnology . The event was arranged by UAF Department of Forestry; Department of Botany; Department of Entomology; Institute of Soil Sciences; and Institute of Horticulture. Talking to participants, the vice chancellor said the government had launched Green Pakistan Program in order to add up 100 million plants across the country. Lauding the step, he said that it will help fight the challenges of climate changes and to ensure clean environment. He called up boosting up steps against deforestation. Deforestation causes global warming in whole world. He urged the participants to play their role to increase number of plants. He showed his concern that the country was facing the menace of deforestation that is the root cause of environmental depletion He said that the UAF was having thousands of the plants and emerged as the lush green place here. He added that the UAF had developed environment friendly mechanism on 72 acre at Paraoka Farm. The university is producing the manpower in Forestry, ecology, environmental sciences; and environment engineering to provide the skilled people in the field
