The University of Agriculture Faisalabad will set up a soybean institute in UAF sub-campus Okara in order to conduct the value able researches and promote its cultivation as alternative crop.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad will set up a soybean institute in UAF sub-campus Okara in order to conduct the value able researches and promote its cultivation as alternative crop. This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at welcome dinner hosted for the new Dean, Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Amjad. The Vice Chancellor said that the soybean will bring results for the farming community. He added that the agriculture sector is the backbone of our economy which is directly linked to the development and prosperity of the country. He urged upon the young scientists to come up with innovative ideas to promote the sector and to increase the productivity. He told the audience that competitive research portfolio of the UAF had touched to 2.5 billion which is the highest countrywide. He said that the Faculty of Agriculture is taking the lead in the scientific research at the campus. He said that quality education was a guarantee of the bright future and masters programmers also have been kicked off in the UAF sub campuses in Toba Tek Singh and Burewala-Vehari. He said that the Planning Commission has approved establishment of Pak Korea Agriculture Park worth Rs 30 billion worth at the campus that will help address the problems of the farming community. He added that old campus will be made a museum on the glory of Punjab Agriculture College and Research Institute. He said that on the directive of the Punjab Government, Agriculture research and extension conference is being held at the campus on March 11 in which scientists and extension across the province will take part and will discuss the issues for the development of agriculture. He lauded professional, educational, administrative and scientific services of new dean Dr Muhammad Amjad and said that he would move the faculty to the new heights. Dr Muhammad Amjad said urged the faculty especially young to prove the mettle and make the all out efforts to address the problems of the farming community and to increase the productivity. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of vice chancellor for the development of the agriculture sector and UAF to the new horizons of the uplift. Dr Tahir Siddique also spoke on the occasion.
