Nasarawa State University, Nigeria and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad inked the memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate in academia and research.

Nasarawa State University, Nigeria and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad inked the memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate in academia and research. UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and Nasarawa State University, Nigeria Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Akano Mainoma inked MOU. Nigerian Acting High Commissioner Aminu Abdulkadir, Nigerian Commissioner of Agriculture Nasarawa State Muhammad J Zakari, , Nigerian Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr I.M Haruna, Dr MM Ari and other notables also attend the inaugural ceremony. Aminu Abdulkadir said that Pakistan and Nigeria were enjoying friendly and strong ties. Nigeria and Pakistan would continue to maintain closer relations and the two countries have also closer ties, especially in the area of transfer of technology. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the university for the educational and agricultural development. Muhammad Akano Mainoma stressed upon the need to strengthen the educatuional and research ties. He said that the MoU would help us to get benefit from each experiences. He added the majority of the Pakistan population was depending upon the agriculture sector. According to MoU, the both university will collaborate in the academic cooperation including academic staff exchanges, exchange of research material, research collaboration and post doctorial fellowship opportunities at UAF Earlier giving briefing, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan stressed upon the need to boost up academic and agricultural ties among the both nations to get benefitted. He said that the UAF was enjoying the excellent relations with the world. He said that enhanced academic ties with Nigeria would open up new avenue of the progress. He said that the UAF had developed 101 innovations that would revolutionize the economy and make the agriculture sector sustainable, profitable and help open new business avenues for rural development and prosperity He said Pak-Korea Hi-Tech Agriculture Innovation Center/Technology Park would be established at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad worth Rs. 3bn. He said the UAF had developed a short duration germplasm of cotton PB 896 r that will prove best variety. He said that the varsity had developed ten varieties of mango with excellent aroma and taste. He said that the UAF was the only institutions in the country which was is ranked in the top 100 universities of the country.
