He chaired a training workshop on next generation sequencing through bioinformatics held at the University of the Agriculture Faisalabad in order to promote the latest teaching and learning tools. The workshop was organized was organized by the Department of Computer Science. He added IT has gained immense importance and turned the world global village. Now, knowledge ranges from arts to sciences is a single click away from the users, Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said the UAF was working on introducing the hybrid courses. He said that in the modern world, it is imperative to adopt the technology for the teaching to maintain the interest of students. He said that the University was setting up teacher resource center for equipping the teachers with the modern trends. He said that the UAF had kicked off massive open online courses mechanism and the lectures were being put on the internet. He said that computer sciences had emerged the largest department of the varsity with 2,500 students in the four BS programs, MSc and MS programs. He added that a state-of-the-art new building for the Computer Sciences was being established. He said that the UAF would establish a digital Ebrary for the students so that they can get benefitted. He stressed upon the participants to learn the modern tools, come up with innovative and unique ideas to prove their mettle. He said in the modern era, it is not possible to achieve developmental goals without the assistance and promotion of information technology. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the government for the promotion of IT. He said that the UAF had developed different android application for the farming community for the sake of the getting the recommendation. He urged the computer scientists to develop more apps relating to agriculture and economy. He said that the UAF had developed IT fertilizer model for the balance usage of inputs. He urged the Department to offer Department Chairman Tasneem Mustafa also spoke.
