A workshop on bio-safety, importance and risk management was arranged by Molecular laboratory, Department of Bio-Chemistry, University of Agriculture Faisalabad at Iqbal Auditorium, UAF . It was chaired by PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi former vice chancellor Dr Khalid Mehmood. Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr Muhammad Asghar, Dr Munir Ahmad, Department of Biochemistry Chairman Dr Khalil-ur-Rehman, Dr Amir Jamil and other notables also spoke on the inaugural session. Dr Khalid Mehmood said that non-implementation of bio-safety measures in laboratories, hospitals and fields had exposed people to serious health risks. He said that bio-safety measures were aimed at preventing unintentional exposure to pathogens and toxins, or their accidental release. He said that excessive usage of sprays, inputs and industrialization were posing the serious damage to the environment and people’s lives. He called for implementing and taking extra measure to ensure the bio-safety protocal in the country. We are polluting the environment from our own hands, he said, adding that that there is need to tell the aftermath of deteriorating situation.
