USAID funded U.S.- Pakistan Center for Advanced Study in Agriculture and Food Security launched Roguing and Harvesting Campaign by Students of Newly Initiated Degree program MSc (Hons.) Seed Science & Technology at Proka Research Farm on Saturday April 22, 2017. Roguing is the process to eradicate other than breeding verity plants from testing trial spot. This process is adopted for the purification of seed. The purpose of this campaign was to provide hands on training to New Degree Program scholars for ensuring purity of seed during breeding process. Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (S.I) Vice Chancellor UAF/Chief of Parity USPCAS-AFS was the chief gust on this occasion. He urged the need for Short duration, water stressed and heat tolerant crop verities to meet the challenges of food Security in the country. Wheat breeder Prof. Dr. Zufiqar Ali briefed about the new wheat verity which is water efficient. Director Farms Dr. Farooq Ahmad also spoke on the occasion. As many as 140 Students of Seed Science & Technology and plant breeding & Genetics participated the campaign. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (S.I) distributed Umbrellas to the students, they were also decorated with certificates.
