It was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing 3rd inter-varsity men and women Ju-Jitsu Championship arranged by Directorate of Sports, UAF here on Thursday. As many as 17 teams from different universities across the country are taking part.

It was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing 3rd inter-varsity men and women Ju-Jitsu Championship arranged by Directorate of Sports, UAF here on Thursday. As many as 17 teams from different universities across the country are taking part. He said that in the modern era, the youth were glued to the screens of android mobiles, TV and computers. That's why, playgrounds are presenting a deserted look. He said that keeping the situation in view, the UAF was taking conscious efforts to promote sports activities which were on decline due to decreasing sports trends. He also said a state-of-the-art sports arena for women sports were also being established at the campus. He said that the sports are prerequisite to lead healthy minds and it developed sportsman spirit that helps fight the odds in the life. He urged the students to develop sportsman spirit to cope with challenges of life for the uplift of the country. He said that the UAF was taking all possible steps to promote sports activities that will move them towards healthy activities. He said that the University was spending millions of rupees on the revival of the sports in the youth and to provide the state-of-the-art sports facilities to the students. He said that a healthy body was the base of a sharp mind as sports make players not only physical strong but mentally also. He said the government was making the serious efforts to flourish the sports in the youth. Chairman Sports Dr Muhammad Ashfaq said that sports activities were extremely important for the students as they require physical exercise to stay fit mentally and get education. He that such platform like championship gala provides an opportunity to the students to exhibit their skills in front of people. He said that UAF had produced many national and international players and utilizing all resource to promote the sports culture in the youth. Progressive Farmer Manzoor Thakar said that sports culture needs to be promoted in the country. He said a sound mind was important for a healthy body.
