The cheque distribution ceremony for Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme for Less Developed Areas was held at the New Senate Hall, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The students of UAF and GCUF hailing from less developed areas were given the cheques. The session was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while GCUF Dean Dr Nasir Amin was the guest of honour. Higher Education Commission representative Adnan Syed and UAF Financial Assistance and University Advancement Director Dr Hafeez Sadaqat also spoke on the occasion. Thirty four UAF students received their cheques amounting Rs 2 million while more than 50 GCUF students were also among the recipients of the cheques. From 2012 to 2017, as many as 209 UAF students and 95 GCUF students of underdeveloped areas have got reimbursement cheques under the scheme. Addressing on the occasion, Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan lauded the steps being taken on the part of federal and Punjab government for the promotion of education. He showed his concern that the professional hailing from under developed areas prefer working in big cities. He said that the professional should work in their areas and the community for the betterment and prosperity of the people. Director Financial Assistance and University Advancement, Prof. Dr Hafeez Ahmad Sadaqat paid thanks to Representatives from Higher Education Commission, GCUF Focal person, supporting staff and recipients of the cheques. He said though, UAF was used to disburse more than 750 million among the needy and talented students of the varsity, but to fill the demand supply gap, we need to knock more doors to get financial assistance.
