The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has emerged as 16th best university in Asia Pacific and best educational institution in Pakistan as per QS World University 2017 in the subject of Agriculture and Forestry.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad has emerged as 16th best university in Asia Pacific and best educational institution in Pakistan as per QS World University 2017 in the subject of Agriculture and Forestry. It was disclosed by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while chairing the deans committee and steering committee meeting of US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security at the syndicate room. Chairing the session, Dr Iqrar A Khan said in 2016-17, the university has attained 665 research projects worth Rs 2.5 billion whereas it has completed 1,001 projects worth Rs. 2,300 million in the previsions years. He said the University had developed 101 innovations that would revolutionize the economy and make the agriculture sector sustainable, profitable and help open new business avenues for rural development and prosperity. He said that the university has developed research based 22 agro based books where 500 brochures had been prepared that will help create the awareness and address the issues facing the sector. He said that soil fertility was facing serious crisis for which we have to make the measures. He said trained manpower, quality education and researches providing solutions to problems of society and farming community; and knowledge based economy are prerequisite to alleviate the poverty from the country. He urged the teaching community to become self-accountable, and perform their duties effectively by creating the teachers-students friendly environment. He added that the teaching is an art in which the perfection is needed. He said that the researchers should think out of box and come with the innovative ideas. He urged them to come out of isolation and urged the researchers to work jointly to solve the problems of the stakeholders, industry and farming community. He lauded the government for the initiatives in the agriculture sector that resulting in increment in the growth rate. He said that UAF was making all-out efforts to ensure the quality education and research. He said that it was their duty to equip the students with skills and moral values in order to steer the country out of the different challenges. He said that UAF Quality Enhancement Cell was striving hard to achieve the quality standards. He suggested getting the feedback from the students about the teaching quality and other measures that will further improve the situation. He also stressed upon the need to work on the teaching attitude that will help improve the education quality. He said that teaching resource center will enhance the capacity of teaching and make the learning environment more vibrant. Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Iqbal Zafar gave details about quality enhancement cell and shed light on teaching resource center. Dean Agriculture Dr Muhammad Amjad gave presentation about ZTBL Agri Growth strategies, Dr Sultan Habib Ullah, Dr Zahir A Zahir, Progressive farmer Afaq Tiwana, Faisal Shah, and other notable also spoke on the occasion.
