Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Korea Jin Wook Kim on Thursday said that Pakistan and Korea were enjoying good and deep-rooted ties. He was talking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar A Khan and deans and directors of the varsity at Syndicate Room.

Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Korea Jin Wook Kim on Thursday said that Pakistan and Korea were enjoying good and deep-rooted ties. He was talking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar A Khan and deans and directors of the varsity at Syndicate Room. He said that both countries ties were being further strengthened in academia, agriculture and other areas. He lauded the step being taken on the part of the UAF in the area of academia and research and for the uplift of agriculture sector. He offered Korean help where needed to the UAF. He, as the chief guest, also distributed the cheques worth Rs 2,25,000 each to four students under Student Startup business grant distribution arranged by UAF Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and Promotion of Education in Pakistan (PEP). The University has recently established a student start-up companies endowment with the seed money of Rs 6 million. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan stressed upon the need to learn from the Korea experiences. He stressed upon the need to promote the education and rural development. He said that several UAF faculty members have completed or persuing their degrees in Korea. Dr Iqrar A Khan while lauding the initiatives of Korea for Pakistan said Pak-Korea Hi-tech Agricultural Innovation Centre/ Technological Park worth 29.11 million dollar will be established at the UAF . It will help replicate Korean rural and agricultural development model and to move the country towards the development and prosperity. He said that we have the large population of youth. If we train them and provide quality education and skill them the country can overcome the challenges of the poverty, unemployment and low per capita income. He said that UAF had the vast range of work on the water management ORIC Director Zahir A Zahir also spoke on the occasion.
