It is a matter of concern that sports activities are facing a diminishing tend in the youth that must be promoted for a healthy society. This was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar at one-day students’ sports gala of the Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Science, University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

It is a matter of concern that sports activities are facing a diminishing tend in the youth that must be promoted for a healthy society. This was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar at one-day students’ sports gala of the Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Science, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. Faculty Dean Dr Masood Sadiq Butt, National Institute of Food Science and Technology Director General Dr Tahir Zahoor and others attended. Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar stressed upon the need to promote the sports activities for a sound physical and mental health. He said that playgrounds are presenting deserted look as youth are glued to screens of the mobile, computer and TV screens. He said UAF was taking all possible steps to promote sports activities which were on decline due to changing life style. He urged the people to develop the sportsman spirit so that different challenges can be met effectively. He viewed that UAF was making all-out efforts to provide state-of-the-art sports facilities to the students. He said that grounds of varsity had produced the players of the national teams of various sports. Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that students are the country‘s future and stressed the need to prepare them to meet the challenges of the life. He said that a healthy body was the base of a sharp mind. He said that sports activities were extremely important for the students as they require physical exercise to stay fit mentally and get education. The games included the tug of war, sag race and others.
