The Faculty of Veterinary Science (FVS) University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Monday took out a rally to mark the Higher Education Commission- 15 years of Excellence.

The walk commenced from FVS Building was concluded at Faculty of Agriculture. The rally was led by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Dr Ahrar Ahmad Khan, Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa, Dr Muhammad Tariq Javed, Dr Anas Sarwer, Dr Sajad ur Rehma, , Dr Muhammad Nisar Khan, other faculty members along with tens of hundreds of the students participated. The Vice Chancellor contributions of Higher Education Commission can be gauged from the fact that at that time (2002), there were only 59 universities in Pakistan that now crossed 188 higher education institutions. Then 2.6 per cent gross enrolment has become nine percent. If we analyze the research paper countrywide, the number has crossed to 12,000 publications, from 800 publications. Our homeland is having around 12,000 PhDs whereas the number was only 3110 PhDs in 2002. He said that HEC had played role in the development in term of quality education, trained manpower and research. He said that no nation can make the development without ensuring the quality education as it works as the foundation of the prosperity. He said UAF due to HEC has promoted research culture in the university. As the result, number of PhD which are produced at UAF during 2001-2017 increased from 300 to 1593. While overall students’ enrollment from 7372 to 25511 in the years 2002 to 2017, respectively. Indigenous PhD fellowship programs launched by HEC have not only supported meritorious students but also promoted poor scholars to transform their dreams of PhD into reality. On the basis of these initiatives, UAF has surpassed the landmark status of inclusion among the top 100 universities of the world. Presently, 288 PhD scholars are availing the facility of HEC funded fellowship while 541 have passed out with distinction and are serving in the different segments of the society.
