The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in collaboration with Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) opened Space Week celebration on Thursday themed “exploring new worlds in space”.

The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in collaboration with Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) opened Space Week celebration on Thursday themed “exploring new worlds in space”. The water rocket contest was held at D-Gound of the University in which 20 schools participated. Besides girls cycling contest was arranged in which 30 school students took part in 300 meter race. The week was inaugurated by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar while Principal School Dr Khalil Ur Rehman, Dr Abdul Rasheed, Dr Abdul Naveed while Suparco mangers Amir Ali and Saifullah along with tens of students also took part. Addressing on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said it was aimed at creating awareness, among the students particularly and masses in general, about the space science and technologies. He said that it provided an opportunity to the students to show their creativity. He said space technology is considered to be the fourth dimension of warfare. Pakistan’s dependence on space applications and information is boosting up to catch the speed of the technology and science advancement. Talking about women, he said that women are excelling in the every field of life. He said that the education works as engine of growth to address social and economic issue. He said the empowerment of the women was vital to achieve the dream of development. The women constitute more than 50 percent of the total population. In the cycling Maria got the first position while Maria stood the second position.
