Like others part of country, National Disaster Awareness Day was observed in the city on the directives of Punjab Government in which tens of hundreds people participated. In this connection, various programs were held with the joint collaboration of District Administration, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Emergency Services Agencies.

Like others part of country, National Disaster Awareness Day was observed in the city on the directives of Punjab Government in which tens of hundreds people participated. In this connection, various programs were held with the joint collaboration of District Administration, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Emergency Services Agencies. An awareness seminar was held at the Iqbal Auditorium University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani. UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar was the guest of honour. On the occasion, the Rescue 1122 conducted a mock exercise in which rescue activities were held to treat the patients and to tackle the calamity situation . Besides, an awareness walk was also taken out from Iqbal Auditorium to Admin Block. Addressing on the occasion, Salman Ghani said that human life is combination of happiness and tragedy. He said there is a need to create the awareness among the people about the measurers in case of any disaster. He said that on October 8, 2005, 7.6 magnitude earthquake perished nearly 90,000 lives and uprooted 3 million people. He said that in 2010, the country went through another unprecedented catastrophe floods which affected almost 20 million people. He said that in 2011, one of natural disaster was the massive outbreak of dengue that took the lives of around 1315 people. He said that with the effective measures, the Punjab had overcome the issue. Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that disaster awareness helped the government and communities to take necessary measures in order to minimize the losses of lives. He said that due to climate changes, we are facing expedited natural disasters in shape of floods and earthquake etc. He said that civil defense and rescue trainings will be made the part of syllabus. He said that Islam teaches us to help others. It is our obligation to facilitate others even at the time of disasters. He said the government had declared National Disaster Awareness Day to sensitise community to learn from disasters and play their role as socially responsible citizen. Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Shahid, AC City Ahmar Sohail, Dr Tahir Siddique, Lecturer Rana Kashif and other notables also spoke on the occasion. They also prayed for the martyred of October 8 disaster.
