Speakers at a seminar stressed upon the women to learn the skills of business management and entrepreneurship to play their key role in the socioeconomic development of the country. They addressed a graduation ceremony of 1st cohort training workshop on women entrepreneurship here at new senate hall of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. The event was organized by Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration IBMS and Womenx. The Dr Mubashar Mahdi, Dr Hammad Badar, Hania Mudasar, Fakhar-e-Alam, Maria Omar, Abass Rizvi, Amna Ali, Sadia, Syeda Shakeel, Saira Hassan, Hafsa Rana, Saima, and Sumia Bukhari were among the speakers. Project Manager Womenx Maria Omar said that among the top 100 largest companies of the world, less than five percent women reach to the leadership positions. She urged the women to fill the gap by equipping themselves with the management skills. She said that a large number of women are away from working profession. She said science is in the classroom but practice is in the market, so women need to synchronize themselves with both knowledge and skill in constant manner. She said that the womenx provided a platform for the likeminded women to collaborate with each other. Dr. Hammad Badar said that the women comprise 50 percent of the total population and we cannot progress without involving them in social and economic activities and bringing them in mainstream. Dr. Mubashar Mahdi said that the women are proving their metal in almost every field the file. The education works as engine of growth to address social and economic issue. Project Coordinator Hania Mudassar hoped that the participants of the 1st cohort would be role model for their followers. She acknowledged the enthusiastic participation of girls seeking management training. Fakhar e Alam said that the women are playing an intensive role model not only as house-keepers but also as the working force in all aspects of life. The women farmers are playing an important role for the development of the sector but their efforts needs some appreciation and acknowledgement. Abbas Rizvi said that education and business has no gender so women need to come forward and equip themselves with business management skills. Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Zahir Ahmad Zahir distributed certificates among the participants who completed their training workshop in women entrepreneurship. Dr. Khuram Zia Assistant Professor ORIC coordinated the program.
