The Rovers Scout Club, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in collaboration with Care Institute of Medical Sciences on Wednesday set up two-day free blood grouping and Hepatitis B and C screening camp for community service.

The camp was established at the Main Campus on November 22 and at the Postgraduate Agriculture Research Station (PARS) on November 23. It was inaugurated by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar flanked by Agrivarsity Scout President Dr Ahmad Sattar, Director Insitute of Horticulture Sciences Dr Amanullah Malik, Dr Ashfaq Wahid, Dr Amir Shehzad and others. The camp has provided an opportunity to students, faculty and staff to have their blood groups identified and encouraged them to register as blood donor. Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar lauded the services and efforts of the Scout for life-saving. He called for stepped-up efforts to create awareness among the people to voluntarily donate blood to save precious lives. He said that awareness on voluntary blood donation was prerequisite to inspire the people to come forward and support needy people by donating blood. He stressed upon the young generation to come forward and donate blood voluntarily through special camps to ensure adequate availability of blood in local healthcare centres. Dr Ahmad Sattar said that after free screening camp, the data of blood of the students would be made part of blood bank. He also said that Faisalabad was placed in the red zone of hepatitis.
