The sports culture and physical activities are declining in the society that will provoke increasing ailment among the people, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar. He was addressing opening session of four-day sports gala arranged by Directorate of Sports, University of Agriculture Faisalabad in collaboration with Interloop. The sports gala comprises football, cricket and hockey. UAF, National Textile University Government College University Faisalabad, Postgraduate College Samnaabad, Municipal Degree College, Divisional Public College Faisalabad and others educational institutes are taking part in the gala. The Vice Chancellor said that sports and physical activities such as workout were viral to stay fit mentally and acquire knowledge for the uplift of the country. A healthy body is vital for a sound mind. He called for developing sportsman spirit in the youth to prepare them for facing the odds in life. He showed his concern that excessive usage of internet mobile phones are preventing the students to go to the playgrounds as these were presenting deserted look across the country. He said that future of country rein in the hands of youth. If they are skilled and physical fit, the country will move to new heights of progress and prosperity. He said that UAF was making conscious efforts to promote the sport culture . Director Sports Dr Muhammad Ashfaq said that there is a need to promote sports activities among the youth as trend is declining. He said that the university is taking tangible steps to promote the healthy activities among the youth. He said that keeping in view increasing enrolment at the campus, a new state-of-the-art sport complex is being established. Interloop Customer Service Center Managing Director Col (R) Ijaz Ahmad Nasir, UAF Assistant Director Sports Ashiq Rasool, UAF Assistant Director Sports Farooq Iqbal spoke and others also attended.
