Eleven Afghan students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Tuesday under the prime minister fee imbursement scheme got the scholarships cheque worth Rs 80,000 per student.

Eleven Afghan students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Tuesday under the prime minister fee imbursement scheme got the scholarships cheque worth Rs 80,000 per student. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan distributed the cheque among the students. Directorate of Financial Assistance and University Advancement Director Prof Dr Hafeez Ahmad Sadaqat also spoke on the occasion Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while lauding the steps being taken on the part of the government for the development of the education said that revolutionary measures are being taken to ensure the quality education and to increase the literacy rate. He said that the UAF was meant for food security and the rural development which is directly linked to the poverty alleviation. He said that the university by design admits the students on district quota system in which rural population are encouraged to get admitted. He said that due to belonging to depressed segment of the society, as many as 35 percent of the UAF students are getting merit as well as need based scholarships. He was of the view that agriculture is the backbone of the our economy. He said that university is also providing free of the cost education to the students of the FATA, Earlier, Prof Dr Hafeez Ahmad Sadaqat said that financial assistance to needy and deserving Students is extended in different forms that include scholarship program, Internship Program, Work-Study Program, Student Loan Scheme; Tuition Fee Concession and the facility to deposit dues in installments for financially Constraint students. UAF Alumni Affairs Research Officer Muhammad Ashafaq Khan was also present on the occasion.
