French Embassy Scientific and Cultural Affairs Councilor Andre de Bussy has stressed upon the need to further cementing agricultural, academic and cultural ties to get benefit from each other experiences. The councilor along with Director Alliance Francaise Stephen Gaillard called on the University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at VC chamber and discussed the area of collaboration of mutual concern. Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Sciences Dean Prof Dr Masood Sadiq Butt; and Dr Aamir Shehzad also spoke on the occasion. Andre de Bussy said that they would help the UAF promote Cheese culture countrywide. He said that agricultural was contributing to the 21 percent to the Gross Domestic Product of Pakistan and majority of the people were associated with the sector. He also called for learning from each experiences in education and agricultural sector that would help to combat the common challenges. He said that they will help the UAF in the research and promotion activities of pasteurized milk. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that we were promoting the edible oil worth Rs 3 billion dollar for which there is the need to strengthen the oil seed sector. He said that most of the milk trade within Pakistan is of the raw milk which is unhygienic. He said that development and promotion of pasteurized milk was the need of the hour to ensure the quality milk to the dwellers.Director Alliance Francaise Stephen Gaillard said that all out efforts were being made to bring the both nations closer with the cultural exchange programme. He said that French language course at the UAF will be further strengthened. Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that malnutrition was hitting nearly half of the population of the country. He said that his faculty has introduced ever-first BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics in order to develop the manpower skilled in the said area. He said that two batches of French courses has been completed at the UAF . Dr Aamir Shahzad said third French language course will be kicked off by next month. UAF in November has organized cheese festival in collaboration with France.
