The academic reference was held at Iqbal Auditorium, that was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan that was attended by tens of hundreds of students and academic staff. Former vice chancellor PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof Dr Abdus Salam, UAF oldest alumnus Hafiz Abdul Qayum; Principal Officer PRP Prof Dr Jalal Arif; Dr Tahir Siddique; Dr Rafique's son Dr Baber Rafique Khan; Dr Arshad's son Dr Haris Arshad Khan; Dr Muhmmad Ashfaq, Dr Riaz Ahmad; Dr Javed Akhtar; Dr Ashafq Chatha, Dr Irshad Bibi and other notables also spoke on the occasion. Hailing his contribution for agriculture, Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the late scientists had made marvelous contribution for the cause of food security and promotion of agriculture sector of the country. He said that being the agriculture country, it is UAF responsibility to pay back to the society in the form of methods, solutions and education for increased productivity. He said that late professors worked day and night for the cause. Dr Khalid Mehmood said that Dr Rafique Khan was the first principal of then Arid Agriculture College which was later elevated as university. He said that loss of the said three legends cannot be fulfilled. Dr Abdus Salam urged the students to follow in the footprints of legends for the food security of the country. Dr Abdul Qayum said that UAF had given the birth to the green revolution due to the untidy efforts of its scientists. Dr Jalal Arif said that contribution of three legends would be written in the golden pages of the UAF history. He said that Rafique Khan had taken revolutionary and bold steps for the development of the agriculture. Dr Javed Aklhtar said that In recognition of outstanding ierformance in education and research, Dr. Arshad has been decorated with National Civil Award “Tamgha-i-Imtiaz 2005”. Dr Riaz Ahmad said that Dr Ehsanullah was the pioneer of establishing the Directorate of Farm.
