University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan has stressed upon to promote the tolerance, brotherhood and unity in the society in order to root out menace of terrorism. He addressed the lecturers and assistant professors of the society of the university at the New Senate Hall. He said that the country was running through difficult time in term of terrorism. He said that Islam is the religion of peace which promotes the tolerance and brotherhood. He added that the some nefarious elements were playing with the lives of the people. He said that tangible steps were being taken to ensure the foolproof security at the campus with the help of training, security measures and modern equipment. He said the education and awareness works as weapon against terrorism and darkness of the society. He urged the UAF community to be vigilant and have the eye on the people involved in suspicious activities. He said that university does not discriminate on the bases of colors, creed, cast, religion and sect. Terming the education the essential tool of development, he called for ensuring the quality education to fight poverty, terrorism and other social issues. The awareness needs to be raised among the people to raise the literacy rate. He said that the government was making possible efforts for education to spread rays of knowledge and get rid of from the clutches of terrorism. He lauded the investment made by the government for the infrastructure, Research and Development activities of the university which is highest in the last five decades. He said that the teachers- students ratio is being narrowed down by recruiting 278 new faculty members during the last years. He said that the new buildings of computer sciences; science library and math and social sciences were coming up.
