A large number of locals thronged the University of Agriculture Faisalabad to have the delight of the colors of Spring Festival. The day (March 1) dawned with colorful events including tent pegging, greyhounds, milk competition, book fair, agricultural exhibition and fancy birds show.

The day (March 1) dawned with colorful events including tent pegging, greyhounds, milk competition, book fair, agricultural exhibition and fancy birds show. The tent pegging was one of attractions for people who gathered in doves at the UAF tent pegging grounds in which 1000 horses across the country are taking part. The single and team riders enthralled the audience by waving spears to collect the wooden peg amid clouds of dust rising from the grounds. The riders were hanging halfway down while galloping with high speed to lift the piece of wood with spear. The tent pegging is being played at national level in the many countries. At the beetal goat milk competition, Ch Anwar Ul Haque goat the first position with 9.4 litre. The goats at second and third position gave 6.85 and 5.74 litres of milk.At the agricultural exhibition, more than 60 stalls are installed at Expo Centre, UAF in which universities department and public as well as private organizations have set up different stalls in which agricultural technologies, products and garments are put on the display for the visitors. Addressing on the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the festival was meant to provide a platform to farming community, academia and industry to sit together for addressing the issue of agriculture sector. He said that being the agricultural country and keeping in view ever increasing population, it is the need of the hour to promote latest technologies in the farming community in order to ensure the food security. He said that such events are the best tool to increase the production by giving the awareness and providing the atmosphere of competitions.On March 2, book fair, tent pegging, milk competition, agricultural exhibition, greyhounds will continue. On March 3-4, international seminar on role of agricultural engineering in smart agriculture will be held. On March 5, Kissan Convention will be held at 9:30 am. On March 9-10, National Institute of food Sciences and Technology, UAF is holding the nutrition mela. It is meant for promotion of the healthy food, and active lifestyle.
