US Pakistan Knowledge Corridor will prove the milestones to make development and to get benefit from each other experiences. It was discussed at a seminar on curriculum revision arranged by US Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Agriculture and Food Security, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The session was chaired by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while Dr Mahmod Ul Hassan Butt from Higher Education Commission; CAS chief of party Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad; Dean Zafar Randhawa; Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi; Dr Sajjad; Shaheed Benizir Bhutto University of Veterinary Sciences Vice Chancellor Dr K.B Mirbahar; US University of California USA Professors Dr Allen Conley, Dr Thomas Rost, Dr James Hill, Dr Nancy, and other notables also spoke on the occasion. The meeting reviewed the curriculum of DVM to make it at par with international standards. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the UAF was partnered with the University of California, USA under the CAS- AFS that will help in ensuring food security with the capacity building and research programmes. He said that food security was the one of major challenges for the country for which all tangible steps are being taken. He said that the joint efforts with the US partners would prove help in the addressing the issue of agriculture and rural development. He said that the country was having the 70 million livestock. He stressed upon the need to prepare the veterinarian with a special focus on clinical site. He said that per animal milk production was very low which must be increased by applying the modern practices. Dr Mahmod Ul Hassan Butt said that the knowledge corridor between the US and Pakistan would open up new avenue of cooperation to ensure the food security. He said the government had planned to double the spending on the education. He said that curriculum reforms are being made to meet the challenges of the modern era. Dr Allen Conley presented the model of veterinary sciences at in the UC Davis. He said that 160 faculty members were working at the UC Davis of the veterinary sciences. He said that 5000 patients visited the UC Davis veterinary hospital annually. Dr K.B Mirbahar said that the livestock is the accounting to 56 percent share in the agricultural sector. He said that the country needs to tap the potential and increase the productivity by adopting the latest techniques in the agriculture sector. Dr Bashir Ahmad said that the CA was making efforts for the uplift of agricultural sector and to flourish quality education at the UAF. Dean Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa said that trained and skilled manpower would open up new avenue of prosperity in the country. Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi said that DVM five years programme was started in 2003.
