University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan has stressed upon the need to promote sports' activities among the youth as it is showing a declining trend. He addressed the youth at the intra-varsity sports gala arranged by Center for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security; Directorate of Sports; and Hall Warden Office at the campus. He said that in the modern era, the youth were confined to the screens of computers, TV and mobiles. That's why, playgrounds are presenting a deserted look. He said that keeping the situation in view, the UAF was taking all possible steps to promote sports activities which were on decline due to changing life style. He urged the people to develop the sportsman spirit so that different challenges can be met effectively. He also said that sports would be made as part of curriculum with credit hours. He also announced establishing a state-of-the-art sports arena for women sports also at the campus . MPA Najma Afzal said that students are the country‘s future and stressed the need to prepare them to meet the challenges of the life. She said that sportsman spirit among the youth was essential to face up to the challenges. She said that the government was making all-out efforts to flourish the sports in the youth and to make playgrounds full of players. Chairman Sports Board Dr Muhammad Ashfaq said that a healthy body was the base of a sharp mind. He said that sports activities were extremely important for the students as they require physical exercise to stay fit mentally and get education. He said that sports culture needs to be promoted in the country. Dr Talib Sahi said that a sound mind was important for a healthy body that why we have been holding sports activities. Dr Bushra Sadia said that such platform like sports gala provides an opportunity to the students to exhibit their skills in front of people. Dr Ashfaq Wahid said that that UAF had produced many national and international players.
