Lack of professionalism, downfall of ethical values in the society and malpractice are leading causes of deteriorating circumstances of the nation.

This was echoed at a seminar on professionalism held at University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The session was chaired by Pakistan Engineering Council Chairman Engr. Jawed Salim Qureshi while Higher Education Commission Chairman Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmad co- chaired the event organized by Faculty of Agri Engineering and Technology. Engr. Jawed Salim Qureshi said that excellence, honesty, humanity, and accountability are the integral part of professionalism. He said that in the past, the teachers were used to train the students about social aspects and humanity after the classes timing also. Now, the segment has gone missing from our educational institution that is posing a serious threat of manpower sans moral values. He said that there was the need to change teaching style to inject morality in the students. He also stressed upon the need to change the mindset of the students to make them hardworking, loyal and target oriented to achieve the goals in life. He was of the view that the social aspect was missing from the professional educations. He said that the PEC was introducing credit hours courses in the syllabus of engineering. He said that Korea in the 60s adopted the Pakistan five year development plan and now it had emerged as one of leading nation in the world. But we have failed to make the progress due to lack of hardworking, ethical values and corruption. He said that excellence in education, humanism and accountability were the essential part of the professionalism. He urged the teaching community to address to Higher Education Commission Chairman Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmad criticized teachers and ullama for lack of the ethical values in the nation. He urged the teaching community to play their active role in refurbishing the skills of the students and to illuminate their heart with the light of humanity. He said that Islam is a complete religion which guides all matters of life. He said that West had adopted our golden principal but we did not follow the teachings. He said that Muslims constitutes 24 percent of the world population. But, the Muslim are standing nowhere in the sciences and technology in the era. He said that some centuries ago, the Muslim States were the hub of knowledge but now, West has emerged as the centre of information and knowledge. He said that the HEC was making all-out efforts to provide quality education and research. He said that if a research does not address the problems of the society or industry, it is useless. There is the need to work on the research that would help redress the woes of the common man and industry. He said that social education is being made as the integral part of professional education curriculum also. And measures are taken on the part of HEC to mobilize the students to address the problems of the depressed segment of the society. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that Korea was one the poorest nation in 60s but now it has emerged as one of ten leading economies due to hardworking and professionalism . He said that it is matter of concern that the heavy public money are spent on the educations of the doctors, engineers etc and they prefer to settle abroad rather than serving to our own people. He said that the country was blessed with the tremendous talents. There is the need to put them on the right track for the development and prosperity of the country. He said that we have to become self –accountable. MNS Agriculture University Multan Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Ali said that all-out efforts are being made to promote the education and to enrich the people with the professionalism. He also praised the UAF for its quality education and research. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Engineering Prof Dr Allah Buksh also stressed upon the need to understand the morality in the light of Quran and Sunnah and to spend the life accordingly to emerge as an ideal nation. Dr Aitzaz Ahmad from a Canadian University stressed upon the need of community service. Director Water Management Dr Hamid Shah also spoke on the occasion.
