Quality education especially for underprivileged segment of the society is prerequisite to reduce poverty, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad khan (SI). The Vice Chancellor was addressing the students who won scholarships from Professional Education Fund (PEF) at cheque distribution ceremony at syndicate meeting room (UAF). He distributed the cheques worth Rs 60,000 for each student. He congratulated the students for their hard work and advised them to use this scholarship wisely and in a beneficial manner for their future. He said that the UAF disbursed Rs 700 million merit and need based scholarships every year for the students. He said the UAF was making all-out effort to ensure quality education by providing modern facilities in which 40 percent of UAF students are receiving financial assistance. Such activities will reduce the illiteracy rate of the nation. “Trained and educated nation is the guarantee of a bright future that will help uplift the economic level and eliminate poverty”, he added. The organization gave 14 scholarships to students of different disciplines UAF in which each student will get 60,000Rs annually. The PEF has been giving scholarships to students for the four years. He said that the UAF had introduced electronic admission system for the undergraduate students. The function/meeting was attended by the Directorate of Financial Assistance UAF Prof Dr Hafiz Sadaqat and Dean Animal Husbandry Prof Dr Muhammad Sajjad. Dr Hafeez Sadaqat said that the UAF takes all possible steps to support the deserving stunners to continue their professional education. He said that multiple kind of scholarships are being offered to the students. He said that mostly of our students belong to the underprivileged class especially from the rural areas.
