Workshop on diary and rural development

US-Pak Center for Advanced Studies Agriculture and Food Security (USPCAS), University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Wednesday organized a workshop titled Diary and Rural development at syndicate room. The session was chaired by USPCAS Chief of Party Dr Bashir Ahmad. He said that the dairy sector is under the grip of many problems including low milk productivity, substandard Artificial insemination etc. He stressed the need to equip the farming community with modern trends to increase per acre production as well as to alleviate poverty. He called for creating awareness about modern trends to improve the dairy sector productivity that will help alleviate poverty. Chief Executive Officer Dairy and Rural Development Foundation Ahmad Sajjad said that USAID-DRDF has started a project to prepare credible genetic improvement center, aimed at promoting researches on livestock and agriculture sector. General Manager Field Operations DRDF Dr. Umar Farooq said that owing to the project, the livestock sector attracted a huge investment of 27 million dollars that made an impact of 50.7 million dollars to the national economy. Manager Communications DRDF Ms. Shumaila Jamil said that they are creating awareness among the farmers by using traditional and non-traditional aspects to disseminate information about dairy products and medicines, vaccinations and diet etc.
