The agriculture sector is underperforming due to traditional way of farming and issues realting to seeds, value chain, and lack of awareness among the farming community about latest methods. This was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while talking to German Development Cooperation International Training Dr Ligia and Atif Mehmood He said that the population of the country was increasing with a large pace and in the coming decades, it would be doubled. We have to increase our productivity from an acre, he said, adding that progressive farmers were getting much more than an ordinary farmers. He said that most of milk in the country was unprocessed that unhealthy. He said that pasteurised milk technology must be promoted at village level to ensure nutritive value of milk. He said that if we analyze the milk production in livestock sector, an animal milk production is only 2000 litres per annum compared to 8000 litres in the developed world. He said that UAF was partnered with the University of Kassel, Germany on the food security. He said that the university houses a satellite unit of a German funded International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) to fight against global hunger and poverty through research and education.
