University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan inaugurated state-of-the-art animal medical treatment and shelter center for stray and domestic small animals such as dogs and cats established by Tahira Animal Welfare Foundation at Gutwala in Faisalabad.

The cats and dogs enclosures are ready to accommodate injured animals of Faisalabad and provide them food and housing. Pro-Vice Chancellor University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, Prof Dr. Masood Rabbani; Chief Executive Rafah College of Veterinary Sciences Lahore Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Dr. Mumtaz Khan Principal Rafah College of Veterinary Sciences; Principal Officer, Department of Public Relations and Publications UAF Prof. Dr. Jalal Arif; Dr. Laiq Akbar Lodhi, Dr. Asher Mahfooz,; and Dr. Shehzad Maqsood Basra attended the event. Chaudhry Talat Mehmood, Senior Vice President, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, MPA Firdous Rai attended the meeting. Addressing the inaugural session, Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan appreciated the efforts of the foundations for launching the project. He told the audience that UAF was also running the animal hospital which is equipped with modern facilities and highly qualified doctors. He said the Faculty of Veterinary Science UAF has been playing a significant role in flourishing livestock and poultry production in the country since 1962. He said that in the faculty, diagnostic laboratory and drugs analytical facilities have been rendered and has implemented artificial insemination technology. He said that UAF had made significant contributions in their specific field of specialization and contributed to the advancement of basic and applied knowledge at the national and international level. Dr Jalal Arif said that the UAF was opening new chapter of glory under the dynamic leadership of Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. He also lauded the initiatives of the foundation for the animal and society.
