Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) China and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Monday inked a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in education and research, and area of mutual concern.

Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) China and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Monday inked a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in education and research, and area of mutual concern. The MoU was inked by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and FAFU President Dr LAN Siren. In this regards, FAFU University delegation visited the UAF and met Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and deans and directors at syndicate room. The FAFU delegation included Acting Deputy Director of International Affairs Mr. You Yang Chen, Vice Dean of Overseas Horticulture College Zhongxiong Lai, Dean Assistant of Overseas Education College Ruibi Lin, and Qiuyi Tao from the Plant Protection College. According to MoU, the both institution will collaborate research and capacity building initiatives, student-faculty exchange, preparation of joint research proposals and projects for submitting to national and international donors and other area of mutual concern. Mr. You Yang Chen said that the collaborative work would help learn from each other experiences. He said that in the FAFU, 160 international students were studying from 44 countries. He also said that 55 Pakistani students were studying in FAFU out of them 8 were from the UAF. He also offered that 10 PhD from UAF may be admitted to FAFU for PhD programs every year. The university has initiated a unique program in Bee Sciences. He said that they are housing 24 colleges offering 75 degree programmes. FAFU has been leading the country in researches in sugarcane, bee, fiber crops, bio pesticide, and cedar wood. He said that the university has built friendships with over 50 research institutes in more than 20 countries and regions. Together with Dalhousie University Canada and University of British Columbia, FAFU has established two undergraduate education programs in Horticulture and Resource and Environmental Science and one in Ecology, respectively. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that UAF was housing a Confucius Institute that was among the best institution in the country. He said as many as 31 faculty members of UAF had studied from China. He said that the UAF was enjoying good relations with the Chinese institutions. He said that agriculture is the backbone of our economy that is directly linked to the rural development.
