Former South Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Jong Hwan Song on Monday said his country and Pakistan are enjoying good relations in the various field including agriculture, education and rural development that will help make prosperity.

Former South Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Jong Hwan Song on Monday said his country and Pakistan are enjoying good relations in the various field including agriculture, education and rural development that will help make prosperity. He was talking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at VC chamber. He said that collaboration in the small water reservoirs could be initiated with Pakistani institutions that will help address the issue of water. He said there are many similarities between our countries, adding that languages of both countries have some common words. He said that the enhanced collaboration would help fight the challenges especially in agriculture. He also discussed Special Economic Zone for greater cooperation. He lauded the steps being on the part of UAF for the uplift of agriculture and education sector. He also called for further cementing ties in order to create new business and investment environment and to get benefit from each other experiences. He said food security and rural development were the more important, helping the nations alleviate hunger. He said that Korean rural development model Saemaul Undong, launched in 1970 can be replicated in Pakistan. He added that the Saemaul Undong spirit was based on diligence, self-help and cooperation amongst farmers. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan stressed upon the need to learn from the Korea experiences. He said that UAF had the waste range of work on the water management and collaboration with Korean institutions will further enhance the works. He stressed upon the need to promote the education and rural development. He said that we have the large population of youth. If we train them and provide quality education and skill them the country can overcome the challenges of the poverty, unemployment and low per capita income.
