Faisalabad Research Forum have decided to announce Faisalabad as the science city in which all all scientific and educational institutions will work together and make collaborated efforts to address the different problems facing the country

The FRF meeting was chaired by Commissioner Faisalabad Momin Agha while UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and GC University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali were the guests of honor. The representatives from Ayub Agriculture Research Institute, NIBGE, NIAB, Punjab Medical College and other institutions attended the meeting. The Commissioner directed the meeting to devise a roadmap to declare Faisalabad as the science city. The proposal will be put before the government for the approval. He said that the collaborated efforts on the part of the all institution with come up viable solutions facing the society. He said that the country was facing the different challenges in which joint efforts on the part of all institutions had become essential. He also stressed upon the need for public-private partnership that will help combat different problems. He also suggested developing working groups on the different issues in order to redress the woes of a common man. He also suggested that enhance efforts are needed to promote the value addition in the agriculture sector that is the contributing 22 percent to the Gross Domestic Product. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that it is the misconception that the Indian agriculture sector was better than us. He said that under the forum, all institutions would pole up their resources to work jointly for the betterment of the lives of the people. It is a matter of concern that that country was lacking in skilled manpower. He said that the UAF was taking all tangible steps to prepare skilled manpower especially in the agriculture sector. He said that the country was abundant food but a large number of population was facing the malnutrition due to lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits and unawareness. He said that the UAF was promoting the concept of One Health aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle and eating habit. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that the consultative meeting of Faisalabad research forum must be conducted bimonthly and a advisory board needs to be established to address the issue of the county on scientific bases. He said that GCUF had set up a hitech lab that could be used for the joint efforts. He said that the credit sharing would be initiated among the educational institutions. He said that we have to develop our self on the basis of skilled manpower, education and other measures to meet the growth in the country after CPEC sciences. Director NIBGE Dr Shahid Mansoor said that the name of the roads in the city must be kept on the names of scientists. He pointed out that the hepatitis c is hitting the residents of the city at the large pace. Dr Nawazish Ali and Assistant Commisoner General Shafqat ullah Mushtaq also spoke on the occasion.
