Government College University grabbed the winning crown by defeating University of Agriculture, Faisalabad by five wickets in the final match of the 1st Interloop Inter varsity T20 Cricket Tournament here at University Cricket Academy on Thursday evening.

Government College University grabbed the winning crown by defeating University of Agriculture, Faisalabad by five wickets in the final match of the 1st Interloop Inter varsity T20 Cricket Tournament here at University Cricket Academy on Thursday evening. In response to the 102 score of the runner up team of UAF, the winning team GCU finish the match with 5 wickets in hand. Chief of the Final match Vice Chancellor UAF Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (SI) flanked by Brigadier (R) Ahmad Raza Siddique the Executive Director of Interloop, Waseem Haider selector PCB, and Col (R) Ijaz Ahmad Nasir distributed the prizes among the players and officials of the organizing team. Addressing the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor said that the varsity management was determined to provide state of the art sports facilities to the student youth by eliminating the gender barrier. He urged that the girls to show their presence in the sports arena, thereby to remain fit and healthy adding that we want to see the sports gender natural at the campus. He hoped that the sports facilities will attract the students come in the ground and actively participate in the games. Describing the tournament a successful event, he ensured the players that the varsity management will erect a pavilion and add more facilities in the academy. Dr. Khan lauded the financial help of the Punjab Government for construction of 4 squash courts, one gymnasium, and one multipurpose air- conditioned hall “we have an outstanding sports facilities comparing with any university of the country” he claimed. Besides Boys, girls have also participated in the tournament and in the final match, Lilly Cricket Club outshined the Shaheen Club. There were six teams participated in the tournament namely UAF, GCUF, NTU, PMC, Municipal Degree College Abdullahpur and Govt. Postgraduate College Samanabad.
