A delegation of United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan meets UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar A Khan in his chamber

The Pakistan National Association of Fulbright Alumni, Faisalabad chapter has set up an information desk at Directorate of Financial Assistance and University Development situated at Citrus House, UAF. United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan in collaboration with Pak NAFA Faisalabad Chapter organized an awareness seminar to inform the students about the prerequisite to avail Fulbright scholarship. A delegation of United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan comprising Director Admin Affairs Mazhar Qayyum Awan and Program Manager Saleem Abdul Razaq flanked by Pakistan National Association of Fulbright Alumni president Dr. Muhammad Ashraf also called on UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. Pak NAFA has opened it sub-office Faisalabad chapter at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad with Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf Dean Faculty of Sciences as its President and Dr Irfan Afzal is Secretary. During the meeting with UAF VC Prof. Dr. Iqrar A Khan, the focal person of the delegation Mazhar Qayyum Awan said they were looking for talented students for PhD degree in all field especially in agriculture and life sciences. He told that his office was holding a free student diagnostic test to enable them evaluate their capabilities of qualifying GRE. He said that the last date to apply for Fulbright scholarship was May 16, 2012. He said the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States. USEFP is guided by a bi-national commission composed of an equal number of Pakistanis and Americans, the Chairman alternating each year between a Pakistani and an American. He said USEFP is one of 51 "Fulbright Commissions" located throughout the world. He told that since 1951 when the first group of Pakistani grantees traveled to America, and 1952 when the first American grantees visited Pakistan, the Foundation has fostered mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and the United States through educational and cultural exchange. Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad said that UAF was ranked one of the top universities of the country and as the field of agriculture is concerned, it was number one varsity of the country. He lauded the step being taken on the part of the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan for the promoting of education and providing opportunities to talented students to study abroad. Pakistan Association of Fulbright Alumni president Dr Muhammad Ashraf also spoke on the occasion and gave briefing about the objectives of setting up Fulbright alumni at national level to inculcate the young generation about the opportunities in further pursuing their academic endeavors at US.
