Preparation for the spring festival arranged by UAF in full swings

The University of Agriculture is kicking off a six-day Spring Festival from today (Monday) in which colorful events including farmers convention, agricultural exhibition, flower show, fancy bird show, horse and cattle show, tent pegging, milk competition, cow and buffaloes beauty competition and cultural shows as well as international seminar and conferences will be held. The festival will be inaugurated by Kenyan High Commissioner in Pakistan Mrs. Mishi Masika Mwatsahu. The festival is aimed at promoting modern agricultural practices, and outreach activities in a bid to increase per acre production of various crops, fruits and vegetable to cope with the food insecurity situation confronting our homeland.On March 12, Agricultural Exhibition, Flower Show and Fancy Birds Show would also be inaugurated at D-Ground of the varsity while tent pegging competitions would be opened at Race Course Ground, UAF, situated at Jail Road. A horse City has been set up at Race Course Ground, UAF in which tens of hundreds horses have been brought from different parts of the country. On Tuesday, the said events will continue and sports gala will be opened at Athletics grounds at 11:30 am while in evening, Mehfil-e-Milad will be held at Iqbal Auditorium at 8:00 pm. On Wednesday, Kissan Convention will be inaugurated at Iqbal Auditorium at 11:00 am at Iqbal Auditorium; Kababadi Match at 4:00 pm at Race course ground and Mushaira at 8:00 pm at Iqbal Auditorium. On Thursday, Job Fair at 10:00 am in front of Library, Equine Conference will be opened at Iqbal Auditorium at 11:00 am, ,while Buffalo Beauty Competition at 2;00 pm at Dairy Farm and cultural show at 8:00 pm at Iqbal Auditorium will be held. On Friday, seminar on food engineering at 9:00 am at New Senate Hall; seminar on agriculture at 11:00 am at Old Senate Hall; Tent Pegging Closing at 3:00 pm at Agri Extension Ground; Milk competition at 4:00pm at dairy farm and cultural show at 8:00 pm at Iqbal Auditorium will be held. On Saturday, closing ceremony of the festival will be held at 11:00 am at D-Ground of the varsity. It is worth mentioning here that the university is used to hold such festival twice in a year and it has become an annual feature. Last year, tens of thousands people along with their families thronged to the festival to share festivities and get rid from the tension of routine life. The same spirit is likely to be witnessed this time.
