Knowledge-based economy is prerequisite to alleviate poverty and rising unemployment from the society. In this regard, especially the young generation should become come This was stated by University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at the concluding session of DICE 2015, the business plan competition in which 500 students from 50 Universities presented innovative business plan. He urged the students to come up with innovative ideas as it (innovative idea) can change the life of oneself. He quoted the example of Bill Gates and others who worked with an innovation which changed the world. He stressed upon the students to become job providers rather than job seekers as it is the evolution of mindset. He said that researches should not be piled up in the libraries. It must be transferred into goods and services and commercialization. National Textile University Rector Dr Arshad Ali said that the country was blessed with tremendous talent and the platform like Dice will help the students to hone their creativity and present it before the gathering. He said that it will ultimately help them become the entrepreneur. He also called for expediting efforts for the knowledge based economy. He said that with the innovative ideas, agriculture and textile sector will flourish further. Progressive farmer Afaq Tawana said that the industry and agricultural sector needs innovative ideas to flourish. He said that we are far lagging behind with the rest of world in term of new technology. He said that knowledge based economy was the solution to the all the problems confronting the country. Dice President Khurshed Qureshi said that Dice started functioning in 2007 when ten innovative were brought in the contest and now (Dice 2015) more than 500 students are taking part from 50 educational institutes of higher learning.Director ORIC Prof Dr Asif Ali said that the Dice has introduced new category ( Agriculture and Food Security) in the business plan. And now, every year, Dice in the category of agriculture and food security will also be held As per results in the category of Art and Humanities, Business and Social Sciences, FAST University students clinched the first position in the project titled Home In based on health, security mechanism of the mates. Whereas, Sukker Institute of Business Administration stood second for developing cultural website while the University of Agriculture Faisalabad won the first prize for the project of diabetics control roller. In the biological sciences, Kinnaird college for Women stood first for the project Nutty booster, UAF second with pharmaceutical and neutraceuticals and Kennard College got the third position for the Moringa tea. In the physical sciences, UAF bagged the three positions for the project vegetable and fish farming; postharvest curing of the dates and Efficient and Effective . In the category of IT, the Foundation University Rawalpindi got the first and second position.
