Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin on Wednesday said that educational and agricultural bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkey will be further strengthened to get benefit from each other experiences.

Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin on Wednesday said that educational and agricultural bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkey will be further strengthened to get benefit from each other experiences. He was talking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at Syndicate Room, UAF at deans and directors meeting. Former federal minister Mian Altaf Saleem also attended the meeting. The Ambassador said that Pakistan and Turkey were enjoying good relations based on brotherhood and we considered each other as bothers. He stressed upon the need to understand language and culture of each other for boosting up bilateral relations. Turkish cultural and language centre are being set up in the different cities of Pakistan and a cultural exchange center could be established at the UAF. He said the both counties stood with each other in the difficult times. Pakistan is good in wheat, cotton, milk and livestock production. In Turkey, we have the strong seed industry. We should expedite the joint efforts for the cause of food security and alleviation of poverty. He was of the view that student and faculty exchange programmes will be further strengthened.UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the University was enjoying the good relations with the Turkish educational institutions. He said that the country was facing the challenge of substandard seed. In which, Turkish collaboration would pave the way to address the issue. He said the University was running a goat distribution project in collaboration with Turkish organization TIKA as the step toward the poverty alleviation. He said that the milk processing was the area of concern in which work should be done. He said despite the fact of being one of largest milk producer, the little work was being done on cheese in Pakistan. Preparation of cheese at mass level can be initiated to overcome the protein deficiency. The ambassador flanked by UAF Vice Chancellor also distributed the 40 goats among the eight farmers women as the step of TIKA project to alleviate the poverty. Prof Dr Masood Sadiq Butt, Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi and Prof Dr Laeeq Akbar Lodhi also briefed the envoy about the food and livestock sector during his visit to NIFSAT and veterinary clinics
