The Seluck University, Turkey and University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Sunday inked an Memorandum of Understanding in the area of the education and research.

The Seluck University, Turkey and University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Sunday inked an Memorandum of Understanding in the area of the education and research. Seluck University, Turkey Vice President Prof Dr M Musa Ozcan held a meeting with UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan. Dr M Musa Ozcan said that the universities will conduct research and faculty and student exchange programmes under the MoU in order to ensure the food security. He stressed upon the need to expedite the efforts for the cause of food security as world population was increasing with large pace. He was of the view that rural development was essential to make the progress in the world. He said that people are moving towards cities and the agricultural lands were being shifted to the residential colonies. He called for promoting family farming to increase the income of farmers. He said that model of cooperate farming could be adopted for increasing agricultural productivity UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said UAF was enjoying good relations with Turkish seats of higher learning and also working with TIKA in a poverty Alleviation Program in rural areas of the country. He said that the rural development was prerequisite to ensure the food security and to alleviate the poverty from the region. He said that the collaboration would help to learn from each other experience. He said that amid raising population, it is the challenge for agricultural scientists, experts and farming community to feed the increasing population Dr Mithat from Seluck University and Director External Linkages Prof Dr Muhammad Ashfaq; Director Research Prof Dr Asif Ali and other notables were also present on the occasion
