Nigerian Senator and former Governor of Sokoto State, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Magatakarda Aliyu Wammakko has called for strengthening academic and agricultural ties between both countries to get benefit from each other experiences.

Nigerian Senator and former Governor of Sokoto State, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Magatakarda Aliyu Wammakko has called for strengthening academic and agricultural ties between both countries to get benefit from each other experiences. He along with five team members visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and met UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and deans and directors of the University. He said that their government was focusing on agriculture and stressed upon the need to broaden the agricultural ties between the both countries. He said that strengthen agricultural sector was vital to ensure the food security. He praised the UAF for making the achievement in the area of agriculture and research and finding the place in the top 100 universities of the world. He said that UAF relations with the Nigerian agri based universities would be cemented. He also vowed for students' exchanges programmes with UAF to learn from each other experiences. UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said stressed the need to have the joint efforts to cope with food security which is posing a threat especially for the developing countries. He said that strong academic and research ties among the both countries would pave the way to address the common issue. He welcome the students exchange and research programme from Nigeria, he said, adding that all possible measures are being taken on the part of the university to fight with the agricultural issues and to ensure the food security in the region
