University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan on Friday said that the target of poverty alleviation could not be fulfilled without the promotion of knowledge-based economy. He was talking to associate professors at New Senate Hall, UAF. He urged the scientists to come up with viable solutions of farming community and industry in order to ensure the food security. He said that researches should not be piled up in the libraries and it should be reached at the doors of farmers. He said that it was the duty of the scientists to find the solutions of farmers woos. He urged the teaching community to become self accountable, and perform their duties effectively by creating the teachers-students friendly environment. He said that progress of countries is being determined by their number of brilliant students pursuing higher education. He said that 51 slots of professors be filled and urged the associate professors to compete for the post. He added that the teaching is an art in which the perfection is needed. He urged the teachers equip the students with skills and moral values in order to steer the country out of the different challenges. He said that community-industry and farming community demanded out-of-the-box solutions to their problems. He said that UAF was having the talented manpower and teaching community of 670. Out of which, as many as 410 are PhDs. He said that the UAF believed in diversity of knowledge. He said that 100 scholarships were being provided to UAF faculty, administration, and students under the USAID funded Centre for Advanced Studie
